STATEMENT OF FAITH We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testament as being verbally and completely inerrant in the original writings and of supreme and final authority in faith and life. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man. The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father as promised to convict the world of sin, to glorify Jesus and to transform the lives of believers into the likeness of Christ. We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born separated from God with a sinful nature. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who personally place their faith in Him are redeemed and justified on the basis of His shed blood. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven, and His present life for us as High Priest and Advocate. We believe in the ‘Blessed Hope;’ the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, a relationship in which they are eternally secure. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost along with Satan and the other fallen angels. We believe that the Church is a spiritual organism made up of all believers in Christ; that in its local manifestation it is an autonomous assembly of believers; and that its ordinances are baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Do you agree with SBC's Marriage and Sexuality Statement? *
Marriage and Sexuality At Scottsdale Bible Church, we welcome and extend God’s love to all people, affirming that all are created in His image and infinitely loved by Him. We invite everyone to seek and explore a relationship with Christ while developing relationships with others as part of our church community. In all matters, we look to the Bible as the inerrant Word of God, believing it clearly communicates God’s design for life and behavior. Regarding marriage and personal relationships, we believe the Bible establishes the significance and sanctity of marriage as the union of one man and one woman expressed in love, commitment and shared fidelity. We believe the Scriptures are also clear that sexual relationships outside of this union are inconsistent with God’s design. As a church, we encourage one another to live by biblical ethics and find grace and healing by submitting to Christ’s ongoing leadership. Our intent is not to focus on specific sins to the exclusion of others, nor to rank or categorize actions or conduct, but to follow His Word as closely as possible in our personal and corporate life. We recognize that individuals may hold differing beliefs from the stated doctrines of our church. These convictions do not exclude them from being a part of our church congregation. Although we all need God’s continual grace and mercy, we ask that those who seek to represent our church through guiding or leading others would agree with our Statement of Faith. In addition, we challenge people seeking these roles to be on a path of continually submitting to Christ’s leadership with a desire to adhere to biblical truth through His power and strength.
Thank you for your desire to serve in the Worship Arts Ministry at Scottsdale Bible Church. We are privileged to be a part of a church with a vision to reach our community and world with the Gospel. With unprecedented opportunity comes incredible responsibility to live a holy life worthy of Christ’s calling. Our desire is for each team member to live out their faith in uncompromising devotion to this challenge. As a worship team member we ask that the following be confirmed for this leadership role: Commitment: The most important requirement in serving at Scottsdale Bible is cultivating a personal relationship with Christ through prayer, fellowship, and spending time in God’s Word. Worship Arts volunteers are committed to Scottsdale Bible Church and its vision, mission, values, and beliefs. All are available online at www.scottsdalebible.com. This doesn’t mean questions can’t be asked or meaningful discussion engaged in, but these are values that Worship Arts volunteers hold. Lifestyle: A key part of serving the body of Christ through leading worship from the platform is living a lifestyle of worship the rest of the week. As members of this ministry and worship leaders in services, it is important that we represent Christ and His purposes no matter where we are—that our lives are marked by integrity and passion for Christ. While we are all growing in our walk with the Lord, we pursue Christ and strive to let our “light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) By submitting this application, I confirm that I have read and agree with these statements and commit to abide by these standards to the best of my ability as a worship team member of Scottsdale Bible Church.
